One of the most difficult things about creating content is getting those first few words onto paper. But, what comes after your awesome content is created?
Click Publish? I think not!
Every minute, we send approximately 204 million e-mails, make 2.46 million Facebook posts, and upload 72 hours of YouTube videos. With so much content, you need a way to improve your quality content will get in front of your customers and increase your authority in your target market niche.
Before You Click Publish, Here’s What to Do With Your Content
1. Read Your Digital Content Out Loud First.
As I always say, “Humans first, then the search engine robots.” SEO keywords are great but, if the content doesn’t read well, then the humans won’t even bother with it. Read your content copy first and make sure that it flows. Content should be personal and not stuffy. Imagine you are having a cup of coffee with that person and this is your conversation. Don’t forget to check for grammatical and spelling errors.
2. Share Your Content with Those Outside Your Company and Industry.
There’s nothing like a second set of eyes on your work. Don’t be afraid to let someone else read your work before you publish your content. This will help ensure that your content is on target and reads well.
3. Remember Your SEO Keywords.
After you’ve ensured that your killer content is conversational and reads well, THEN you put in your SEO keywords before publishing. Remember, the search engines are blind to your content so you need to describe the: who, what, where, why, and how in your content. Look for places where you’ve used the words “it”, “this product/service”, etc. and explain what you’re describing. If you don’t describe it, Google, Yahoo!, Bing, Yandex, and social media networks will never know how to serve up your content to your target market.
4. Tags Those Images.
Of course, you included a couple of images in your content, right? If not, then you’re missing out on huge human and SEO benefits. Both humans and search engines use image search to serve up great content and link to relevant content pieces. Use the ALT and TITLE tags for all images in your content to increase your SEO rankings.
5. Link Relevant SEO Content and Keywords.
No one can include everything they want to say in one piece of digital content. This is where linking within your own website and blog rock. Include a few links within your content to other relevant content that you’ve written. And, of course, don’t forget to link to other brands and key influencers. Doing both increases your authority as an industry expert and builds relationships – as well as great SEO backlinks.

The search engines and social media networks love ranking a quality piece of content higher than any fluff pieces out there.
