Wondering what Google thinks of your Twitter Tweets? Great news! The Google Search Mobile App is now ranking your Tweets among organic search results!
Starting on May 19th, 2015, Google is bringing Tweets to Google Search on mobile devices such as iPhones, iPads, Android devices, and more. That means that, when you search using the Google app or any browser on your tablet or phone, you will see real-time Twitter content right in the search results screen.
Do Tweets Affect Organic Search Rankings?
Although you’re regular content will be displayed for natural search engine rankings, Tweets will now display above these snippets for higher SEO rankings on mobile devices.
For example, check out this screenshot for a NASA tweet:
As you can see, the Tweet is outranking natural organic website rankings. Paired with a great Twitter image, your target market will be easily driven to click the Twitter Tweet over your website’s link.
Optimize Your Twitter Tweets for Increased SEO
Don’t get frustrated with this change. There is something easy that you can do to help use this change to further increase your website’s search engine rankings.
My SEO tip? When you Tweet, use the full URL of your content. Never use a URL shortener.
Let’s use a NASA example:

Need another SEO tip? Use trending Twitter hashtags wisely to increase your visibility on mobile devices in order to become an authority leader for your target market.
Why Does The Google App Rank Tweets Higher?
Google sees higher Twitter Tweet display as a great way to get real-time information when something is happening in the world. If there’s content that’s unique, relevant, and timely, Google wants to serve it up.
The great thing is that this is a wonderful opportunity for businesses and brands on Twitter to have a more global reach in real-time.
If it’s trending and you’re using you’re using the full URL to your website’s content, this Google-Twitter for mobile change can be a huge opportunity to increase your business and organic search engine rankings.
To start, we’re launching this on Google.com in English in the Google app (on Android and iOS) and on mobile browsers, rolling out gradually. We’re working on bringing it to more languages and to desktop, so stay tuned. (Google)
As with anything in social media, this is a tool and it comes with great responsibility. Use wisely.
