You 2.0. Social Media Branding for Non-Profits (Video)

In January 2011, I had the great opportunity to present to the Milwaukee Chapter of the Young Non-Profits Network (YNPN) at the Iron Horse Hotel in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

This was the annual meeting for this group of hard working and devoted members to not only reintroduce them to social media but to give them the tools they need to take charge of both their online and offline branding.

Brand management is crucial to those involved in any industry but many professionals are never given insight into how much it effects every aspect of their business. Regardless of whether a person is trying to raise funds, find a new career or make a sale, if their online brand management is lacking, they are wasting valuable (and free) prime real estate to secure their industry authority and secure relationships that will take them to the next level of their business.

The event attendees were eager to learn more about social media networks and how these tools influence the potential clients, peers, customers and employers “purchasing power”. Members left with an action list to implement right away to increase their online brand management and build authority through search engines and social media networks to realize their personal and professional goals.

Take a moment to look at your own brand online. Whether you are a person or corporate identity, you are your brand and need to own it. Does your online and offline personalities match? What does your online social media network profiles say about you? Are you making the right impression on your target market?
